INVENTION DIARY
Follow the SnuffRing build
SnuffRing began with a simple observation: smokable material often continues burning between uses, while loose ash can fall into the pipe below.
Greg and Gayla began exploring whether one removable accessory could support the material, retain loose ash, and help interrupt combustion between uses. What started as a practical experiment has developed into a patent-pending product concept. This diary follows that work—from early prototypes and informal observations through engineering, structured testing, manufacturing preparation, and eventual launch.
What we will share
Product development rarely follows a straight line. The Invention Diary will document meaningful milestones, including:
- design and engineering decisions;
- lessons from prototype development and testing;
- changes made in response to what we learn;
- manufacturing and commercialization progress; and
- important company and mission updates.
We will describe the development process candidly, but we will not disclose every technical detail. Certain information will remain confidential to protect pending patent rights, nonpublic know-how, testing integrity, and the confidentiality of testers, engineers, vendors, and prospective partners.
Where development stands
Patent filing
A PCT international patent application was filed on August 19, 2026. SnuffRing is patent pending.
Engineering
The design is being refined through CAD development, component evaluation, and preparation of additional prototypes.
Testing
Early prototypes have supported informal observations that are helping guide the next engineering and testing stages. Those observations are preliminary and should not be treated as verified performance claims.
Company
SnuffRing, Inc. has been formed in Missouri to continue product development and prepare for commercialization.
Website milestone: The initial SnuffRing website setup is complete. It gives the project a public home while we continue engineering and prototype development. The product itself remains in development.

Become a Founding Tester
We’re selecting 3–5 adults age 21 or older within approximately 100 miles of Camdenton, Missouri, to help evaluate working prototypes through alpha testing. Share candid feedback and help guide improvements. Explore the Founding Tester Program and apply.
